Two Year Anniversary

To all of the users who have enjoyed spam-free websites for the past two years, at no cost from us, YOU ARE WELCOME!

We couldn’t have done it without your help!

To all of the mindless spambots who continue providing our friendly support forums with free spam to dissect, THANK YOU!

Our support forum has been a constant source of new and useful information. The spambots change tactics regularly, but because of their inability to resist a wide open forum, we get to see them first hand right away. Thanks guys! Keep the crap coming!

More Informative Notifications (v0.40)

Automated spam? Still gone. Trackback spam? Still dead in the water. Tastefully sarcastic responses to rude spammers? Sure thing. Compatible with the latest version of WordPress (3.8)? Why wouldn’t it be? What is SpamLord missing, you ask? You have so many questions…

Added SpamLord Icon (v0.32)

Just popping in to say that the SpamLord himself now graces your settings screen in the form of a small grayscale icon. It really ties the whole screen together, for me at least. Totally worth an entire update.

The Morality Update (v0.31)

Moving toward an official public release, the SpamLord thought it would be best to take things a little more mainstream and give you, the user, an opportunity to tweak the plugin to your liking.

Historically, one of the main features in the plugin was the terribly profane insults SpamLord would hurl back at spammers. We always justified this because, well for one, if you are spamming websites you deserve at least an insult, and for two, the insults are translated into Esperanto, a language that very few people actually speak. This serves one very specific purpose: bypassing network profanity filters.

Typo Update AGAIN (v0.24)

Happy holidays! No wait a second, look at the time. It’s FIVE AM. Why am I awake? Why, more importantly, am I awake and releasing an update to the plugin? Was it not working properly? Perhaps there was a horrible bug that was messing up everyone’s websites? No, no, nothing that absurd. The SpamLord exists in either a different time-zone or perhaps a reality where it is totally fine to harass someone at FIVE AM on their day off, because he thought it would be an opportune time to verbally berate me over a typo he found. Yes, another typo… In the source code. Apparently while attempting to pry a Doritos crumb from under the X key, I unintentionally spammed my own code with about 300 X’s.. Which, for the curious, looks like this:

Now Featuring Trackback Protection (v0.23)

It’s been a while. The SpamLord kind of left me alone for a while after the last update… You know, the horrific typo in the source code comments. I guess he took the hint, or maybe it’s just everything was working so damn flawlessly there was really no need to bother me about it. Anyways, before I could get too comfortable, one of our test sites started getting absolutely bombarded by trackback spam.

Fixed a Typo (v0.14)

So… I screwed up. There was a typo. In the source code comments. I suppose I must have been thinking, oh, nobody reads these so I’m not going to run them through a spell checker or anything. Clean it up later or something…

Insignificant Update (v0.12)

If you recall from my post regarding the initial release, whenever I update the plugin I am contractually obligated to write something about it. This time I changed the version number to test it out. Yep, that’s literally it.

Initial Release (v0.11)

It’s the initial release. There’s not much to say, I mean you install it, you activate it, and the spam stops. It’s not like we have told anyone about it, other than a few trusted acquaintances with horrific spam problems. I don’t even know why I am writing this, other than the fact that the SpamLord contractually obligated me to write something each time a new version comes out. Nothing specific, which is kind of odd, because I mean, he is kind of serious about everything… Can be kind a pain, but at the same time he is paying me… and well,  frankly he scares me.
